    MANDATORY UNIFORM POLICY (GRADES 6-8)

    Walker Mill Middle School is a uniform school.  Students are required to attend school dressed in compliance as outlined in our mandatory uniform policy below. All students may wear Navy Blue Fleece with the Walker Mill Middle School Logo. Order forms can returned to the main office. Click here to download.


    young men

    • Short or long sleeved polo shirt in the appropriate color. Shirts must fit appropriately. Shirts must be tucked in at all times so the belt can be seen.  

      •     6th Grade – Hunter Green

      •     7th Grade – Burgundy

      •     8th Grade – Navy Blue

    • Khaki uniform pants or uniform shorts. Pants/shorts must have belt loops. Garments must fit securely at the waist.  The cuffs of pants should touch the tops of the shoes.   

    • Solid, grade level color zip up fleece jackets (without hoods) , Solid crew neck sweaters/sweatshirts are allowed (optional) .  Hoodies may not be worn.   All sweaters/sweatshirts must be worn over the uniform polo shirt.

    • Plain black or brown belt.  A belt must be worn at all times.  The belt must go through the belt loops and be buckled at the waist.  Buckles should be gold or silver.  

    • Flat soled, fully enclosed shoes.  Shoes must be worn at all times.  

    • Head wraps, scarves, and hats are not allowed.  

    • Only one necklace may be worn.  Must be worn inside the shirt.

    • Solid color light (zip up only)(optional).  Hoodies may not be worn.   All sweaters/sweatshirts must be worn over the uniform shirt.  

    • Black, white, or navy blue socks, tights, stockings or flesh-colored stockings must be worn.  Socks must be ankle length or above.  

    • Plain black or brown belt.  A belt must be worn at all times if the garment has belt loops.  The belt must go through the belt loops and be buckled at the waist.  Buckles should be gold or silver.

    • Earrings:  Per PGCPS System-Wide Dress Code, student are ONLY permitted to wear earrings that are no larger than 1.5” (quarter/half dollar size).

    • No colored make-up is permitted. No eye shadow, blush lipstick, or colored lip gloss

    • Closed - toe shoes ONLY (Slides, Flip-flop, heels, heeled boots, jellies, open toed shoes etc are not permitted.)

    • Head wraps, scarves, Bonnets, head bands protruding ears (for example and not limited to: Cat ears) and hats are not allowed.

    • No Birthday Crowns or Tiaras may be worn during the school day.

    • Ribbons, barrettes, strings, headbands, scrunches/ponytail holders are acceptable.  

    • Only one necklace may be worn.  Must be worn inside the shirt.  

    • One watch may be worn.  Alarms and other sounds must be silenced during school hours.  Only one bracelet may be worn. No bangles.  

    • No fad dressing or jewelry.  

      

      

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    • Sweatshirts and Cold Weather: Solid grade level colored Sweatshirts and Cardigans are permitted.  The following are NOT PERMITTED, Sweatshirts and cardigans with logos, embellishments, etc i.e. Victoria Secrets PINK sweatshirts, GAP sweatshirts with the GAP logo, denim jackets, sweatshirts or cardigans with multicolored designs (stripes, lines, circles, letters, pictures, etc)  

    • Please ensure clothes are in good condition and not distressed and or hole free.
    • Coats: NO COATS can be worn in the classrooms, they must remain in the locker. 

    • Club, sports or activity groups:  WMMS hosts numerous activity and sports groups.  These groups are allowed to wear their group/sport/activity related T-shirt on FRIDAYS ONLY.  The exception are athletes that wear their game day apparel on game day.

    Bookbags example


    • BackpacksStudent are permitted to carry mesh or clear backpacks ONLY while in school. All other bags must remain in lockers.


    • All jackets, non clear book bags and other non uniform items must be kept in a locker during the school day
    • Exceptions to the uniform policy for religious practices will be considered.  

    Consequences for not following uniform policy

    • A parent/guardian will be contacted to bring the appropriate item(s) to school if the student is in violation of the uniform policy.  
    • Continued violations of the uniform policy will result in disciplinary actions
