    Bus Stop Tips:

Since there may be several buses picking up children in the same area, we recommend the following:

    • Before the school year begins, visit the bus stop location with your child.
    • Be sure your child knows the safest route to the bus stop location.
    • When taking your child to the bus stop on the first day, please arrive at least five minutes early.
    • Your child should know their bus route number and school name. There will be a sign in the second window on the door side of each bus.
    • Become familiar with your bus driver, but be aware that a different driver may substitute.

The safety of students is our primary concern. We appreciate your help in promoting safety, both on and off the bus.

    Bus Service Eligibility

Under Administrative Procedure 3541 - Student Transportation, middle and high school students are eligible for transportation if they reside two miles or more from their assigned school. Elementary school students who reside one and one-half miles or more from their assigned school or who lack safe walking conditions exist (as determined by the Director of Transportation or their designee and the Prince George’s County Police Department, Special Operations Division) are also eligible.

For concerns regarding bus route safety, please contact transpor@pgcps.org or 301-952-6570
