    Thank you for all those who participated in our 1st Box tops for Education Contest.  Congratulations to our winners:

 Ms. Fominaya's 1st Grade Class
 Ms. Stepp's 3rd Grade Class
 Ms. Dolan's 5th Grade Class

 These 3 classes enjoyed a dress down day on
 Friday, October 5.

  

Keep clipping those box tops and sending them in.  Our next contest is right around the corner. 

 

IMPORTANT:  Box tops do EXPIRE.  There are many out there that expire 11/1/18.  Please check the expiration dates and send those due to expire asap.  If the expiration date has passed we must throw them away. 
       That's like throwing dimes into the trash

      Help us earn much needed funds.  For every Box top we turn in Montpelier earns 10¢.  Yes, just for collecting and turning in those tiny pieces of paper/cardboard we get PAID! 
   
If you use these collection sheets, for each sheet you turn in we earn $2.50, or you can send them in in a bag.  Box tops are on many things you already purchase including THESE PARTICIPATING PRODUCTS!

 Being on time for school is essential for your child's learning.  Arriving late disrupts your child's schedule, the classroom and the office.  This sets the pace for your child and can have an impact on the entire rest of their day.  Please be sure to have our students in class and ready to learn by the start of the morning...9:15.
The doors open a 9 a.m.
 (We understand we do have late buses.  These do not count against
 the students or the classroom tardy total.)

AT THE END OF EACH MONTH ANY CLASS THAT HAS NO TARDY STUDENTS THAT MONTH WINS AN ICE CREAM PARTY! ice cream

Each year you must re-apply for free lunch status.

  If your child received free lunch last school year, that will expire as
of October 15.  In order to prevent a lapse in free or reduced status

In addition to the above, you will need proof of income:  2 most current pay stubs 

Private leases
Private leases MUST be notarized.  These are leases between individuals as opposed to the apartment complex leases.

Shared Housing Instructions
If you, the parent or guardian, are not the owner or lease holder, shared housing forms must be filled out and NOTARIZED.  These forms are available in our office or can be downloaded here:

Laurel Public Library Offering Free

Homework and Reading Assistance

1st-6th grade students can receive free homework and reading help. Called the Kids Achieve Club, this program was originally designed to reach students that speak another language at home, but may need help with their English language homework. however, all students are welcome to receive help with their homework or practice reading with our volunteers.


The Kids Achieve Club meets from 6-7 pm on Wednesdays during the school year. This year the program will meet from October 3rd-November 14th and January 9th-June 5th, except for April 10th. This is drop-in program, registration isn’t necessary. Reel free to reach to contact the library if you have any questions at 301-776-6790.

 

Special Programs at Montpelier

 
Enrichment and Acceleration Opportunities 

    At Montpelier we follow the TRC or TAG in the Regular
Classroom model.

The TRC model was developed for schools wiyh a large population of TAG identified students (greater than 40).  There are currently over 70 students identified as Talented and Gifted in grades 2 through 5 at Montpelier.

Paper Recycling Program

Please help us continue to earn funds by dropping your
newspapers, catalogs,
 magazines, and misc. paper in the bin.  
Please note:  Cardboard, tissue paper, kitchen and bathroom items
and phone books CAN NOT be accepted.

BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION
Our Boxtops for Education program is still going strong.  Save those boxtops from participating General Mills products and
send them to school with your students.  We have collection sheets available.  For every 2 sheets filled up your child will earn a dress down day.

Once again, Montpelier is participating is Giant A PlusFood's A Plus School Rewards Program.

Please register your Giant Food Rewards card for Montpelier.  We receive much needed funds from this wonderful program each time you shop!  Our school code is 00402.
