  • On Wednesday, May 6, State Superintendent of Education Dr. Karen Salmon announced that all Maryland public schools will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.

    • Student Meal Pick - Up Changes

      Starting Monday, April 6, Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) students can pick up a week’s worth of “grab and go” meals in fewer visits.

      Meal pick-up will occur twice a week going forward. Students can get meals for two days on Mondays and three days on Wednesdays. There will be no meal service on Monday, April 13 due to spring break. Service will resume Tuesday, April 14 with one meal; three meals will be available on Wednesday, April 15.

      Breakfast, lunch and a snack are available at 43 sites, including Laurel Elementary. Parents may now pick up meals for students who are unable to come to the site by showing  a student ID or report card.

      Meals are available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Parents and guardians are not required to accompany students nor are students required to show ID.

    • Internet Service for PGCPS Families

      Internet access for distance learning

      Internet Essentials from Comcast brings families affordable, high-speed Internet that makes it easier for low-income households to get connected so they can more easily work from home, access educational resources and stay in contact with friends and family. New Internet Essentials customers may be eligible for two months of free Internet service. Apply online by April 30, 2020 or call 1-855-8-INTERNET (1-855-846-8376). Hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to midnight (EST), seven days a week.

      You may qualify for free Internet service if you:

      • Are eligible for public assistance like the National School Lunch Program, housing assistance, Medicaid, SNAP, SSI and others.
      • Live in an area where Comcast Internet Service is available.
      • Have not subscribed to Comcast Internet within the last 90 days.
    • Message from Mrs. Lee - Student Meals Update & Enrichment Packets

      Dear Students and Families,


      During the statewide school closures, students can pick up breakfast, lunch and a snack at numerous sites throughout the county, including our school. We encourage you to come to L.E.S. weekdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for “grab and go” meals in the cafeteria or parking lot depending on the weather. 


      Students may pick up all three meals in one visit. Parents and guardians are not required to accompany students. Adults may not pick up meals for children. Student IDs are not required.


      The enrichment activity packets are also online at https://www.pgcps.org/march2020enrichment/. We will send a message once the packets are ready for students to pick up from the school.
