Community Partnerships make new Program a Success
    WSSC and HBOSC staff
The new 4th grade  STEM program ,Water Wall, offered at the Howard B. Owens Science Center was made possible by partnering with WSSC and the Bowie Home Depot.  Staff members Shari Sternberg and Virginia Fulton got the idea after volunteering during  the annual WSSC Water Festival.  WSSC employees donated their time and skills as they worked with Owens staff to build six additional water walls seen in the picture, as well as donating the two original water walls used at the festival.  The Home Depot of Bowie donated  many of the building supplies and then discounted the purchase of the remaining items.  With the great support of these two community partners, it was possible to service over 400 PGCPS students when it debuted last spring. In this STEM program, students work in teams to problem solve the best design with in the constraints provided and then revised their designs once they test them.  We look forward to offering the program again during the 2017-18 school year.
