     Common Core

This school year continues the full implementation of the Common Core State Standards.  These standards were designed to give students more opportunities in life by ensuring that they are college and career ready when they leave our K-12 community.  The standards bring new ways of student thinking, assessing, and teaching. Maryland is just one of 45 states that have adopted these standards.

Throughout this transition, it is critical that schools, parents, and the community work together to ensure success for our youth.  A classroom that implements these new standards will look very different compared to what many of us are used to as we went through the K-12 system.  The resources suggested on this page provide insight into the differences that we will encounter and how to support our students together.
