  • On Wednesday, March 25, State Superintendent of Education Dr. Karen Salmon announced that all Maryland public schools will remain closed through Friday, April 24.
    Picking up meals, digital devices and instructional materials for distance learning is permitted under Gov. Hogan's stay-at-home order (Sect IIb(iv)).

    The Rosa Parks Discover Club is an after-school enrichment program designed to interest students in the arts and sciences. Activities include field trips, nature walks, art, playing chess, surfing the Internet, and writing articles for publication in the Scholastic Journal. Discover Club meets oon Tuesdays from 2:00 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. in the art room. Members must provide their own transportation home. Currently there are 25 members in the club. Members are selected in the fall after completing an application. To be considered for membership, a student must:

    1.) be in third, fourth, fifth or sixth grade at Rosa Parks;

    2.) complete an application;

    3.) be recommended by a teacher;

    4.) explain in writing how he or she will get home after sessions;

    5.) answer an essay question;

    6.) provide a parent's signature giving permission to attend sessions.
