    Dear Falcon Family,

We have been very blessed this fall with beautiful weather.  With the weather now changing, please be sure your children are dressed for outdoor recess, arrival and dismissal.  If you need any assistance, please reach out and we will be happy to help.

Now, with the start of November, we will hold our Parent Teacher Conferences on Monday, November 12.  If you are unable to schedule an appointment with your child/ren’s teacher, feel free to contact your teacher for an appointment.  We look forward to this time of the year as it takes a true partnership to help our children reach their fullest potential.

November is a quick month, please ensure that your children attend school every day.  Research shows:

    - Children chronically absent in kindergarten and 1st grade are much less likely to read at grade level by the end of 3rd grade. - By 6th grade, chronic absence is a proven early warning sign for students at risk for dropping out of school. - By 9th grade, good attendance can predict graduation rates even better than 8th grade test scores.

Absences can add up quickly.  A child is chronically absent if he or she misses just two days every month! Please remember to submit a note for any absences your child has.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at jewel.preston@pgcps.org or 301.497.3110.

    Educationally,

    Ms. Preston, Principal
