For more than 30 years, a mosaic window depicting the Benjamin Tasker Middle School tiger mascot has infused both color and school pride into the building’s main lobby.

School leaders and community partners came together to give the beloved window art piece a much needed refresh, and recently celebrated the culmination of a year-long effort to restore this important piece of school history.

Led by volunteer Bob Rapczynski, members of the Bowie Senior Center and the Prince George's Community College S.A.G.E. (Seasoned Adults Growing Educationally) restoration of the decades-old window, included removing, cataloging and cleaning each piece, then attaching all pieces to a new sheet of glass.

Former longtime PGCPS art teacher Nino Enkiri, who taught at Tasker for 31 years,  spearheaded the initial tiger mosaic in the early 1980s. Bringing the restoration full circle, Enkiri was invited to see the renewed mosaic and traveled from Delaware to visit Tasker for a ceremonial unveiling of the restored work!
