  • 2018-2019 Parent and Student Welcome Letter

    August 16, 2018

    Dear Falcon Parents and Students,

On behalf of the entire Central High School Family, WELCOME to the 2018-2019 school year!! We hope you have enjoyed your summer vacation and are looking forward to a TRANSFORMATIVE school year. With a new year upon us, we are presented with new opportunities to positively impact the lives of your children. Our collective goals remain critically important - to ensure each student is prepared and ready to matriculate to the next grade level and, ultimately,  graduate college and/or career ready in a safe and supportive environment.

It excites me to think about the young lives we will shape and mold on a daily basis. I am confident as I enter my fourth year as Principal of Central High School,  we will continue to collaborate with you, in order to build stronger relationships and increase student achievement. As with each new school year, you will find a number of changes to our staff, our instructional program, and many other aspects of our school; however, what is a constant is our commitment and vision to do what is best for all students - TOGETHER!

Our motto continues to be “Doing it the F.A.L.C.O.N. Way, Each and Every Day,” teaching our students, and holding ourselves accountable for: being FOCUSED, having a positive ATTITUDE, showing exceptional LEADERSHIP, showcasing our CHARACTER, being OPTIMISTIC, NEVER GIVING UP, and always being  SCHOLARS. We ask that you support us in ensuring your child acts on these values every day!

All Central High School Staff will be relentless in providing an exceptional instructional program that supports and encourages our students to be ready for the challenges of the 21st century. Additionally, it is my belief that extracurricular opportunities support and enable students to develop character, cultivate passions, and explore the world outside of the classroom. I am committed to ensuring that student needs and interests help shape instruction and extracurricular opportunities. Through this shared commitment to learning, along with high academic achievement, I am excited to see students engaged in debate in the classroom, scoring the winning point on the field, performing on stage, or any other area that peaks their interest and passion.

An excellent education is not possible without the intentional collaboration of students,

parents, and staff.  Central High School is an AMAZING school!!  Working together, we MUST share the immense enthusiasm and pride for OUR  school and community. It is through that same enthusiasm and pride that I look forward to working with you as we create a TRANSFORMATIVE school year and continue the great successes at CHS.

We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she/or you:

    • Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience

    • Completes all assignments given by teachers

    • Reads daily to develop a love for reading and improve literacy skills

    • Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life

    • Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject, and respectfully advocates for himself/herself, as needed

    • Knows that you expect him/her to be successful

    • Check Schoolmax on a regular basis to monitor your child’s attendance, conduct, and academic progress

    • Contact us if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s academic status

Our mandatory 9th Grade/New Student Orientation will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 7:45am – 2:25pm. On this day, 9th grade/new students will have the entire building to themselves to meet their teachers, learn the layout of the building, participate in team-building activities, and become familiar with “The F.A.L.C.O.N. Way.” The County will run the 2018-2019 school year bus schedule on this day to facilitate transportation to the Orientation.

We are a Mandatory Uniform School for all grade levels. It is expected that each 9th grade/new student is prompt and fully uniformed on Friday, August 31, 2018 for Orientation.  On Tuesday, September 4, 2018, all students must be in full uniform, and every day thereafter. (See the uniform policy found on our webpage.) CHS Website
