    Mrs. Hunter-Blake

    Dear Brandywine Elementary School Community,

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the new Acting Principal of Brandywine Elementary School. I am both honored and humbled to serve the students, staff and community for the upcoming school year. Brandywine Elementary School has persevering students, an extremely dedicated staff, and a very supportive school community to which I feel fortunate to be a part of this school community and to be able to lead the work in supporting the students and families of our school community.

Over the past 16 years, I served in many roles in Prince George's County Public Schools: classroom teacher, Coordinator of summer programs, Grade/Department chair, District Achievement Coach, Math Coach, and as an Assistant Principal. Serving in these various capacities, I have a broad range of experiences which have prepared me to lead the Mighty Bulldogs.

I view education as a life-long process and expect that I will continue to learn much about the uniqueness of BES this year and in the years to come. Most importantly, I bring a belief that the students are at the center of all school-related decisions. I am excited to unite my experience, my openness to learn, and my child-centered approach to support our students. Because the relationships between families and the school are vital to the success of our students, I encourage you to become involved in every way possible. I look forward to working with each of you.

I will spend a lot of time with your children, getting to know their personalities, learning styles and interests. I will celebrate their successes, both large and small. I will encourage them every day and let them know they are valued members of our school community. I am ready to make every effort to help your child reach his/her fullest potential.

I vow to give my all to our students’ experience, and I will request the same efforts from our staff and school community. I am excited and eager to bring my skills as an educational leader to BES and work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child's success. Together we will continue to move Brandywine Elementary School towards a strong future by ensuring Academic Educational Excellence and Achievement for All, Every day in Every Classroom !

I know that change is concerning to many, but I want you to know that I am here to work as a partner to ensure our students achieve greatness. As a learner, I welcome the opportunity to engage with the community and for us to learn from each other during this time. I am available to meet on July 29th and 30th from 8am-12pm and July 31st and August 1st from 12pm-4pm. Please call Ms. Brawner at (301) 372-0100 to schedule an appointment. Also, please plan to join me for my community meet-and-greet at the school on Thursday, July 25, 2019 from 6:30pm-7:30pm. I look forward to meeting you soon.

    Warm Regards,
Mrs. Unique Hunter-Blake, Acting Principal Brandywine Elementary School
