    3D SCHOLARS PROGRAM

    The Prince George's 3D Scholars Program is a specialized program through which students earn credits towards an associate's degree while in high school, then immediately transition to Prince George's Community College (PGCC) to complete their associates degree, and are then awarded a scholarship to University of Maryland University College (UMUC) to earn their bachelor's degree. Available courses of study: Business Administration, Criminal Justice, and Computer Networks and Cybersecurity. The name "3D" stands for the three degrees earned in the program; high school diploma (PGCPS), associate's degree (PGCPS), bachelor's degree (UMUC). Only 50 seats are available for incoming 9th graders. The seats for grades 10th and 11th are based on availability. Qualifying applicants will be screened by the strength of application packet and selected by lottery.

    * Potential 3D Scholars must: be PGCPS 9th, 10th or 11th-graders by September 2020; have a 2.5 cumulative GPA; meet minimum score requirements for each grade level on PSAT, Accuplacer, SAT or ACT; and demonstrate characteristics that help predict future success with college-level work.

    Students Application Requirements for the 2019-2020 School Year

    1) Eligible students must demonstrate proficiency on the PSAT exam PGCPS 8th graders will be given the PSAT in school during the month of December 2019. PGCPS 9th graders and
        private/home-schooled students must register for the Saturday, PSAT during the month of December 2019.  Please visit https://www1.pgcps.org/science-and-technology-testing/ for

    2) Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA determined below:   
        Grade 8 (English, Math, Science, Social Studies grades each quarter of Grade 7 and first quarter Grade 8)
        Grade 9 (English, Math, Science, Social Studies grades each quarter of Grade 8 and first quarter Grade 9)   
        Grade 10 (cumulative GPA)

    3) Student must complete the 3D Scholar application 

    4) Students must submit a 500 word essay, it should include:   
        Why do you want to attend Prince George’s Community College and University of Maryland University College?   
        Why would you excel in a hybrid face-to-face and online program?  

    5) Applicants must obtain two teacher recommendations.  Please have teachers name and professional (ex. john.doe@pgcps.org) email address available.  Teachers will be prompted in
        a separate correspondence to complete an online recommendation on behalf of the student.

    3D Scholars Program PSAT Benchmark Scores Requirements

    PSAT Grade-level benchmarks indicate whether students are on track for college and career readiness. They are based on expected student growth toward SAT benchmarks at each grade.

    8th Grade Reading Score - 390

    Math Score - 430

    9th Grade Reading Score - 410

    Math Score - 450

      10th Grade Reading Score - 430    

    Math Score - 480


    Deadline to apply is September 3rd - November 15, 2019

    Along with this application, teacher recommendations, and grades are needed to complete the program application.  Once PSAT test scores are received by the College Board, they will be reviewed and combined with the program application.  Final decisions will be made based upon strength of application and lottery.  All acceptance decisions will be communicated by March 2020.
