"Parents, School, and Community Working Together:  Knowledge is Power!"

By following the procedures outlined below, you will continue to support our school.

Arrival Areas

  • All students are to enter the building through the multipurpose room (cafeteria).
  • Car riders are to “kiss ‘n ride” (no parking) in the circle by the Oakcrest Community Center using the Capitol Heights Blvd. entrance (only school personnel may drive/enter in the main entrance between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.).
  • Buses and identified day care provider vans may use the Capitol Heights Blvd. entrance.  Upon entering make a left, and then proceed to the stop sign (away from the circle).  Drive into the parking area closest to the cafeteria (no cars are allowed to park in this area).  Parents who wish to enter the building may park in the parking area to the right of the Capitol Heights Blvd. entrance.

Upon Arrival

  • Students may enter the building at 7:30 a.m. (no earlier) using the cafeteria doors.
  • Students in grades pre-kindergarten through 2 will remain seated and quiet in the cafeteria.
  •  Students in grades 3 – 6 will go directly to the gym and remain seated and quiet.
  • All students will be dismissed to class at 7:45 a.m.
  • Breakfast is served in the classroom at 7:45 a.m.
  • Send a note with your child in the morning if you plan to pick him/her up early (no early dismissal after 2:10 p.m.).
  • In case of an emergency early pick-up, call the office.  Emergencies should not be daily and continuous (no early dismissal after 2:10 p.m.).
  • The dismissal process begins with the arrival of the first bus (at or about 2:10 p.m.)  Parents may not enter the premises via the Marlboro Pike entrance after 2:10p.m.   (this entrance is reserved for bus dismissal between 2:15p.m. and 2:25 p.m.).
  • Walkers are dismissed at 2:25 p.m.  Remember, it takes time for all the students to exit the building safely.  Parents must wait for students outside by the designated dismissal area.

Dismissal Areas

  • Pre-K Students will be dismissed from the multipurpose room (cafeteria).  Parents may enter through the outside cafeteria door and sign students out at dismissal.
  • Grades K and 1 will be dismissed from the front doors (parents must wait outside and keep the exits clear).
  • Grades 2 and 3 will be dismissed from the second grade commons (right of the front entrance).
  • Grades 4, 5 and 6 will be dismissed from the cafeteria/multipurpose door.

Thursday Folder

  • Forms/information will be sent home every Thursday.
  • Be sure to check your child’s book-bag.  Please read, sign and return all forms on Fridays.
  • If there is a change in your child’s normal procedure be sure to let your child’s teacher know. We will not rely on students to keep us informed.

All children will be encouraged to cross Marlboro Pike at the intersection of Marlboro and Capitol Heights Boulevard.  A crossing guard will be at this intersection. Again, thank you for your continued cooperation.   William W. Hall Academy will be as successful as we make it.  We will make it successful if we work together.
