• Boundary and Grade Changes 2017-18 School Year

We recently received notification that the proposed boundary and grade structure changes for our school were approved by the Board of Education on February 23, 2017.

Dear Parents, In the fall of 2016, Prince George’s County Public Schools held a series of community discussions to discuss potential changes to school boundaries, grade configurations, and program locations. The discussions provided a forum for parents, students, public officials, and community members to share their opinions on these topics. Public input was also received via an online comment form, emails, and telephone calls. With the consideration to that input, the Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kevin Maxwell recommended a set of changes to the Board of Education. Following two public hearings which were held in February, the Board of Education approved most of the recommended changes. Below is detailed information about the change which impacts your child’s school. Beginning in August 2017, sixth grade students from William Beanes Elementary School will be assigned to their neighborhood middle school. Students currently in the 5th grade will transition to Drew-Freeman Middle School at the end of this school year. Students whose neighborhood school is not William Beanes Elementary will be assigned to their neighborhood school. Detailed information about the changes is available online at www1.pgcps.org/discussions. If you have additional questions about the approved changes, please call 301-952-6300 or email pasbt@pgcps.org. Thank you for your support of Prince George's County Public Schools.
