EAGLE NEWS!!!

June 1, 2016

Message from Ms. Davis

The Dine Out Night at Chipotle was a hit!  Thanks to the wonderful UPES Community, our school will receive approximately $500 from Chipotle.   Finally, I know this school year seems to be longer than most but June 17-20 which are 2 hour early release days for students are considered full days of school.  All students are expected to be in attendance until the last day of school which includes students in sixth grade.       The final Eagle Newsletter will come home with students June 15, 2016.  If you need anything between now and then don’t hesitate to contact me via email Toi.Davis@pgcps.org or 301-985-1898.

Career Day

Thanks to all of the fantastic volunteers we had for career day. It was a great day of learning and connection within the community. We are so fortunate to be part of such a dynamic and caring community and we appreciate your generosity of spirit in taking time to make your career "real" for our students. Thank you to  Becky Widman, Beatriz Caron, Rosa Rodriguez, and Claudia Gonzalez for helping out during Career Day.  We’d also like to thank all of the  parents and community volunteers for joining us to highlight their careers.  Also, all the parents who donated breakfast and to Starbucks at 3601 East West Highway.

Field Day 2016
 Schedule:
June 1st – 6th Grade
June 6th – 3rd-5th Grades
June 8th – K-2 Grades

Field Day events are set up around the field and in the gym for student enjoyment. Some of the stations include water games to add to the fun and also help to cool off the kids.

All students should be dressed for outdoor games and wearing the color designated by their homeroom teacher. In addition to proper play clothing, EVERY student must have a water bottle WITH their name on it. Applying sunscreen at home helps to move the day along faster. A hat is also a good idea.

Parent volunteers are needed to "run" the stations. (All supplies are set up and ready to go and an orientation will be provided at 8am to ensure that you know what to do.) Volunteers are needed from 8:00-11:30am or any part thereof. If you are able to help, please let your child's homeroom teacher know of your availability.

2nd Annual 6th Grade Clap Out

Please join us as we celebrate the promotion of our sixth grade students on Monday, June 20, 2016, 11:40 a.m.  The entire school will line our hallways and applaud our sixth graders as they process through the building in celebration of their accomplishment.  This will be a lovely event and we encourage all members of the UPES Family to attend the Clap Out.
