Message from Ms. Davis

Welcome back!  I hope everyone enjoyed their time with family and friends and are ready to finish the fourth quarter stronger than ever.  I’d like to thank the staff and community members who supported our school by  providing input regarding their  priorities to help craft a budget that meets the needs of students.   It is truly amazing what can be accomplished when schools and communities work together on behalf of students.  Additionally, if you were unable to attend the Dr. Seuss Breakfast, please use this link to view this wonderful event.  A special shout out to Lauren Martin and her committee for hosting this wonderful event!  We’d also like to recognize Sarah Nelkin, former UPES student and now proud parent of 2 UPES students as she is prominently featured in the video this year.  Glad you’re on the team, Ms. Nelkin!  The next Eagle Newsletter will come home with students April 20, 2016.  If you need anything between now and then don’t hesitate to contact me via email or 301-985-1898.

Last Day of School

As you know, seven days have been missed this year due to inclement weather. Our school calendar had four inclement weather make-up days scheduled: June 15, 16, 17, and 20, 2016, leaving us with three additional days to address. The Maryland State Board of Education granted a waiver for two of the three days. We made up the other day by holding school on February 12, originally scheduled to be a day off.  The following outlines how we will adjust the calendar to accommodate the days missed:

  • Monday, June 20 is the last day of school for students, with schools dismissing two hours early.

  • High school graduation dates are not impacted.

  • There is a two-hour early dismissal for students on Friday, June 17.

PGCPS understands school delays or closures greatly impact students, families, and staff. When making decisions to close or delay schools, the district’s key focus is on the safety of students and staff.  View the PGCPS 2015-16 school calendar online at:
