Message from Ms. Davis

We are excited to announce that Kindergarten students and teachers moved into their newly renovated wing Tuesday, January 19, 2016.  Our dedicated Kindergarten teachers, building services staff, and school counselor  were here with a host of family and friends during the MLK holiday to prepare the classrooms and school for students.  Parents are welcome to view the newly renovated space either before or after school.     Thank you to all of the parents who were able to attend the January PTA Meeting as attendance was outstanding.  We’d like to thank Peggy Harrington and Pauline Carey for an extremely informative session on the PARCC test, PARCC websites, and understanding/interpreting  the PARCC Home Reports.  If you missed the meeting, parents can use the websites or to access helpful information.  Students will receive their second quarter report card on February 4tth and we would like for parents to review assessment and report card data and assist in setting goals with their children.  The next Eagle newsletter will come home February 3, 2016.  If you need anything between now and then don’t hesitate to contact me via email or 301-985-1898.

Assessment Inventory

The assessment inventory is attached to the newsletter.  The inventory lists the elementary and sixth grade assessments that are given to students this year.  Please refer to this  lists as we are entering a busy season of testing.

Ms. Charann West is the new night lead for building services.  Ms. West  has worked for PGCPS for the last 16 years and comes to UPES with accolades regarding her work and work ethic.  Please join me in welcoming her to the UPES family.

Please show your support for UPES by cutting out, and bringing in BoxTops for Education! Each BoxTop that we collect is worth $0.10 for our school.  This money can be used to purchase new technology, books, equipment, and resources that will make our school even better!  And the best part is, you don’t need to spend any more money than you already do!  BoxTops are found on paper products, all kinds of food, clothing, and school and office supplies that you buy anyway. So please, next time you see a BoxTop on an old cereal box don’t throw it away-- send it to school!
