Principal’s Corner: It’s hard to believe there are only 5 days left of school! It has been a fantastic year, and I am so proud of all of our students’ hard work and progress. I appreciate the tremendous support we have gotten from you, the parents, our PTA, and the community of University Park! There is no place else I’d rather be!
Many thanks to these parents for helping out on Field Day! The kids had such a fantastic time, they couldn’t stop talking about it!
Many thanks to staff and parents for chaperoning the Choir field trip to Hershey Park! Our choir won first place, as did our Elementary Strings Orchestra! Congratulations also to Maria Costa, who won the Vocal Solo Award! It was definitely a trip to remember!
Many thanks to Dana Campbell and Mr. Roy for helping with the Young Author’s Tea! The students who participated in the Write-A-Book contest enjoyed celebrating their books and having the opportunity to bring a guest to the event!
A BIG Thank You from the ESOL Students and Teachers! We would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm thank you to the University Park PTA and the University Park Women’s Club for their generous donations of tape players to our ESOL Books On Tape Program. We would also like to thank the families who donated CD players to our program. The students were very excited to be able to take the books, tapes and tape players home during the school year and share them with their families. We would also like to thank the UPES Women's Club for their most recent generous donation to our program. It is wonderful to have such great community support!
I know many of you wonderful parents have been chaperoning all of the field trips the classes have been taking in the last two months! The teachers could not take these trips without you!!
Congratulations to our new PTA officers! They are:
President: Still vacant – interested? J
Executive VP: Suzanne Whelton
VP: Maby Palmisano
Treasurer: Kristin McCue
Secretary: Dana Campbell
We are hoping that someone will step up to serve as the PTA president – it’s a great job, very fulfilling! We can even have two people share the job!
Our LifeTouch pictures representative wanted us to remind you that picture money is due no later than June 11th.
Our cafeteria manager, Terry Bradley, wants to remind you that the cafeteria can no longer accept checks for this school year, only cash! If your child owes any money, please send it in before the last day of school. Thank you!
One of our parents had a concern that some students might have access to Facebook and were possibly posting unkind remarks about other students. Please be sure to monitor your children when they are on the internet. Actions like these could have long term effects, and protecting our students’ character and feelings is of the utmost importance.
So, here comes the summer! The school will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Registration is also offered at those times. Student placement letters will be mailed out August 5th. You will find the 2010-2011 Supply List, registration requirements, and calendar in today’s Wednesday Envelope. They will also be posted on the website for the summer. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or email us! Have a fantastic summer!
