Principal's Corner: I hope everyone had a relaxing, enjoyable Thanksgiving Break! It's great to be back at school, I missed everybody! Thanks to all of the parents who were able to come on Parent Visitation Day before the break. I also appreciate all of the parents who helped out with the third grade Reading Celebration and the kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast! I know we have parent chaperones who have volunteered to go with our fifth graders to Camp Schmidt this Thursday and Friday - what would we do without you?
Huge congratulations to James Booker, our 4th grade math teacher! He is the winner of the "My Favorite Teacher" contest with the Gazette Newspaper! He will be honored on Dec. 6th at the University of Maryland women’s basketball game. We’re feeling mighty proud!
Our night lead, Junior Miller, got a promotion and will now be working at Charles Carroll Middle School! We will miss him greatly, but are happy for him, too!
Don’t forget to purchase a University Park t-shirt! They are quite stylish, only $10.00, and make a great holiday gift!
December is going to be a busy, but exciting month! This Thursday and Friday, the fifth graders will be going to Camp Schmidt! I know they will have a fantastic time! On Saturday, Mr. Fominaya has invited everyone to go caroling from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. If you plan to go, remember to dress warmly and bring a chaperone! On Dec. 9th, our famous UPES Band and Choir will be performing for our students at 8:20 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., then at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria for our families! You won’t want to miss this wonderful performance!
On Dec. 14th, please join us for UPES Night at Chevy’s Tex Mex Restaurant from 6 – 8 p.m.! Have a great dinner, see all of your friends, and support the Principal’s Staff Support Fund! There will even be face painting!
