Principal’s Corner:  In the last two weeks, the students have done an excellent job of settling into our daily routines.  They are working hard and doing their best!  We had two wonderful Back To School Nights, and it was great seeing so many parents come to hear about our program!  You are our number one partner in helping your child be successful, and your support makes a huge difference!

We received many designs for our t-shirt contest, showcasing our new slogan!  Many thanks to Cassidy W., Karli W., Kalinda B., Denise O., James D., Quai S., Breeana S., Betsy B., Zoe P., Olivia M., Richener B., Jonathan S., Jaedon J., Rachel H., Phebe S., Elyse C., Katalina M., Miranda M., John A., Chloe W., Vivian Z., Stefany G., Araely E., Amed M., Jordan W., Lulu M., Ruth Z., Keyla B., Orckea B., Monica M., Amelia K., Nina M., and Jaime C. for their designs!  The staff will choose the top three, and the students will vote on Thursday for their favorite!  I will hang all of them on the wall outside of my office so you can see what a spectacular job they did!  We will send home t-shirt order forms next week!

Two of our staff members, Denise Contee and Angela Jackson, have come up with the idea of having a Homework Club for students who have difficulty completing the assignments, or do not turn in homework on a regular basis.  We thought that the club could meet on Mondays – Thursdays from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., starting in October.  There is no funding in our school budget for this, so we were wondering if there were any parents who would be willing to volunteer.  If you are interested, please fill out the bottom and return it to your child’s teacher.  I think this would be a fantastic opportunity to individually help our students really succeed!

The PTA had its first meeting on Sept. 15th, and it was well attended!  They are holding their Sally Foster fundraiser from Sept. 23rd to Oct. 4th.  Items will be delivered on Nov. 2nd.  The PTA is also holding the Scholastic Book Fair from Oct. 12th – 15th.  The Silent Auction will take place on October 24th, and I hear it is an amazing event!  Lots of fun!  These are all wonderful ways to support our PTA – they do so much for the school!  The PTA has also organized enrichment classes that will take place after school.  Please register by Sept. 30th; classes will begin on Oct. 7th.  If you haven’t joined the PTA, please consider doing so – it’s only $5.00!

Many thanks to Lynn Dudinsky, the Town of University Park, and the PTA for spreading leaf mulch all over our field!  They have already painted the backstops on the basketball court and cleaned up our landscaping.  We appreciate it!

Parents, when you bring your children to the playground, please yield to the Before and After students when they are out.  When they both mix together, it’s harder for B&A staff to keep track of their own kids.  Thank you!
