This program is designed to train regular education, ESOL, Special education, and ELL teachers on how to enhance writing instruction for grades 3-6.  Write Traits Professional Development Workshops and the Write Traits® Classroom Kits are based on the Six-Traits of effective writing model researched and developed in 1983 by the Beaverton Oregon School District.  The 6-traits model encompasses the writing traits of Ideas, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency and Conventions. Consultants use demonstration lessons, coaching, and ongoing support to promote improved writing instruction. Instructional materials have been purchased for participating schools including teacher guides, student books, and Read Aloud books for six traits lessons.
