The Title I Department supports the goal to create a common vision for mathematics instruction that is aligned with the PGCPS Curriculum Framework, and enhances the teaching and learning of math. Consultants from Marilyn Burns Education Associates will provide ongoing professional development to administrators and teachers to enhance their understanding of the K-8 curriculum, and how to teach it effectively. Seven schools are provided with Math Solutions Professional Development School-Based Coaching which entitles them to four days of training and sets the foundation for continued support during this school year.  Demonstration lessons, including pre-and post-lesson conversations are used to analyze and fine-tune instruction.  Also offered is a   summer course which trains teachers to develop students’ abilities to think and reason, build number sense, strengthen computation and problem-solving skills, and organize instruction for whole class, small group, and individual learning.
