Here are some wonderful reading opportunities during the summer! 

Pizza Hut is sponsoring a Summer Reading Challenge June 1st through August 15, 2014 for students. After your child reads 5 books, he or she can enter a contest for a chance to win a grand prize.  Please visit http://www.bookitprogram.com/summer/default.asp  & http://www.bookitprogram.com/summer/printables/entryform.pdf for further details! 

Chuck E. Cheese’s will give 10 free tokens to students who read 14 bookjs.  This program runs through Dec. 31st, 2014.  Visit http://www.chuckecheese.com/activities/rewards-calendars.  Print out the calendar to track your child’s reading. 

TD Bank is celebrating 12 years of their summer reading program by giving $10.00 to children in kindergarten to fifth grade for reading 10 books.  This program runs from June 1st to Aug. 31st, 2014. 

Barnes and Noble launches its 18th Annual Summer Reading Program:  Imagination’s Destination.  Children in grades 1 – 6 can earn a free book by reading 8 books and writing about their favorite part in the reading journal provided by Barnes and Noble.  Chilren can bring their completed journal to a Barnes and Noble store to collect their free book.  The program kicks off in Barnes and Noble stores on May 20th and continues through Sept. 2nd, 2014.  Barnes and Noble will feature the reading journal, summer reading kit, and book recommendations for summer reading fun at www.bn.com/summerreading. 

Sign up for Summer @ Your Library! Earn rewards for reading and other activities this summer. Follow the links in the Summer @ Your Library Portal to register, print game boards and read the instructions for your age group's program. The program runs June 1st - August 31st. All ages can participate. 

Library branches throughout Prince George's County are celebrating the launch of Summer @ Your Library with kick-off event

Phoenix Big Cinemas at Marlow Heights Cinema 6 (3899 Branch Avenue) is offering free summer movies every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 10 am from June 24—August 28. The National Harbor also has a free outdoor movies on the Plaza everyday beginning 20 minutes after sunset from May 25-Septemebr 28.

Lastly, the Library of Congress hosts the 14th Annual National Book Festival at the Washington Convention Center on Saturday, August 30 from 10 am to 10 pm. Admission is free.

UNIVERSAL BREAKFAST

This year we have a WONDERFUL opportunity to be a part of a new breakfast program. The Universal Breakfast program is a special initiative from Governor O’Malley’s office that says that every student should receive a healthy breakfast in order to perform optimally for academic achievement. As a result, we will serve a FREE breakfast each morning from 7:15 – 7:45 to ALL STUDENTS who arrive during those 30 minutes!
