Prince George's County Public Schools

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

It is indeed an honor and a privilege to serve this great school community again in a new capacity.  I am excited about being appointed as your new instructional leader. It seems like yesterday when I first became a member of the Templeton Elementary School (TES) family. After working collaboratively with the faculty and staff for one school year, I was afforded the opportunity to participate in the New Leaders for New Schools program which prepared me to become a principal.  I never imagined that my path would be directed back to the doors of the school that inspired me to continue to pursue a career in leadership.

         At Templeton, our mission is to provide students with a world class education that addresses the whole child and provides an array of opportunities to be productive contributors to their community.  As the new principal of Templeton, I look forward to partnering with you as we academically and socially prepare each student for college, career and beyond.  At Templeton, we will work to create a culture where all students are understood, valued and respected.  Excellence, accountability, community, teamwork, cultural awareness and self-worth will be modeled by all faculty and staff members for our students each day.

      We at TES are aware that this work cannot be done effectively without a partnership with you.  We need you in order to achieve our goals and bring our vision to life.  The Templeton family truly believes that it takes a village to raise a child. It takes all of us working together as a team to get the job done.  According to last year’s data, our school achieved Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) on the Maryland School Assessment (MSA).   I am confident that we will surpass next year’s goal.  In addition, we plan to increase our parental involvement by providing a variety of volunteer opportunities, family nights and parent workshops. You will also be given the chance to voice your questions, comments and concerns with the faculty, staff and administrative team.

      Again, I am elated to be the new principal of Templeton Elementary.  I would like to invite you to join me for a “Meet and Greet” on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 5:30 pm. This will give us an opportunity to get to know each other and begin to map out our journey to Academic Excellence and live out this year’s theme-A time to Celebrate, As We Move from Good to GREAT!   In addition, you are cordially invited to Prince George’s County Public Schools Back to School Fair at Roosevelt Senior High School on Saturday, August 20, 2011 from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm.

Thank you and I look forward to meeting you soon.

Sincerely,

Ebony L. Harrington

Principal
