Parents or guardians can retrieve confiscated devices in the main office from 3-5pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays only. Free Financial Aid Assistance

University Of Maryland
The University of Maryland Educational Opportunity Center (UM-EOC) is here to provide assistance to current PGCPS High School Seniors in completing the 2010-2011 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and applying for college(s).
The online FAFSA application opened on January 1st and should be completed by March 1st by all High School Seniors who intend to attend college this fall.
Those who apply after March 1st will minimize their chances of receiving any State issued financial aid that they are eligible for.
Don't delay! Please call today to schedule an appointment. For those who are still applying for colleges, we can assist with that as well.
Students must be Prince George's County residents. There is no charge for our services. ALL SERVICES ARE FREE.
*IMPORTANT NOTE: PGCPS High School Seniors who are enrolled in the Talent Search Program at their High School are not eligible for UM-EOC assistance and should consult their Talent Search Counselor or call the Talent Search office at the University of Maryland at (301) 314-7763 for assistance with the FAFSA and applying for colleges.
I. HOW TO GET OUR ASSISTANCE & WHAT TO BRING
1. Call Our Office: Students or Parents/Guardians should call our office at (301) 429-5933 between the hours of 9:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday to schedule an appointment. Voicemail can also be left after hours and we will follow up. At least one Parent/Guardian MUST ATTEND the appointment with the student.
2. Required Income Tax Forms: Students and their Parent(s)/Legal Guardian(s) must bring a copy of their most recent Federal Income Tax filing (i.e. Form 1040, Form 1040A or Form 1040EZ) to the appointment. They should bring their 2008 taxes if they have not yet filed their 2009 taxes. We can assist them in updating the FAFSA with the 2009 information later. Federal tax information is required to complete the FAFSA and to verify income.
*If the family does not file taxes, they should bring other income information including W-2's, proof of public assistance, disability income, etc.
3. Verification of Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status: Student must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to receive UM-EOC assistance. If a Permanent Resident, students must show their Green Card (Permanent Resident Card).
*If a student is not a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, we suggest that they contact the Maryland Multicultural Youth Center/Latin American Youth Center at (301) 431-3121 (Hyattsville) or (301) 779-2851(Riverdale) for assistance.

ABOUT THE UM-EOC
The UM-EOC is a federally funded, community-based program administered by the University of Maryland-College Park to assist low-income and first generation adult residents and high school seniors access post-secondary education. We provide free college, career, and financial aid advising services and hands-on help with college admissions and financial aid applications to eligible Prince George's County resident. We also make referrals for GED and English language classes and for workforce/employmen t related services. Our offices are located off campus in Lanham, MD off of Route 450-Annapolis Road near the New Carrollton metro Station and accessible by the F6 metro bus. The MPSSAA is pleased to announce a scholarship opportunity for graduating high school athletes. The Minds in Motion Scholarship, sponsored by AllState insurance company, will be awarded to four female and four male senior scholar athletes who attend a MPSSAA school and participate in MPSSAA recognized sports. The $1000 scholarship will be awarded toward post secondary education for qualifying applicants.
Please congratulate the following student/athletes for having received The Allstate Minds in Motion Scholar Awards for the First Grading Period. Allstate in partnership with the MPSSAA recognizes the efforts of those student/athletes who achieve a 3.25 GPA or higher while participatingin Interscholastic Athletics.
