Uniform Policy/Dress Code 2009-2010 School Year
Uniform Pricing
Stephen Decatur Middle School is a uniform school. Students are expected to be appropriately dressed in the school uniform each school day. Students must adhere to this policy with no substitutions. Only the STEPHEN DECATUR logo is permitted on the uniform.
The uniform policy is as follows:
- Tan/Khaki box-pleat, straight skirt, skort or knife pleat jumper (girls)
- Tan/Khaki pants (boys or girls); Capri pants (girls)
- Tan/Khaki knee length Bermuda shorts (boys and girls)

ALL SIXTH GRADERS: WHITE polo shirts (long or short sleeve for both boys and girls).
ALL SEVENTH GRADERS: RED polo shirts (long or short sleeve for both boys and girls).
ALL EIGHTH GRADERS: BLACK polo shirts (long or short sleeve for both boys and girls).
PLAIN RED sweatshirt, hoddie or sweater over the polo shirt (SIXTH AND SEVENTH GRADE boys and girls)
PLAIN BLACK sweatshirt, hoodie or sweater over the polo shirt (EIGHTH GRADE boys and girls) |
Shoes
- Solid black or white only, closed toe and rubber soled. Boots only during inclement weather. No clogs, sandals, or open toed shoes of any kind.

- Solid black or white (no designs).
Belts
- Solid dark color-blue, black, or brown (no decorations or designs). BELTS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES NO EXCEPTIONS.

Restrictions:
- No hoop earrings larger than the size of a quarter.
- No denim clothing of any kind may be worn.
- Belts are to be worn with pants and must be visible.
- All shirts must be tucked in so that the belt or waistline can be seen.
- No accessories allowed on self or clothing (i.e. rubber bands, ankle or wrist bracelets, decorative pins, scarves).
- Neither book bags nor backpacks may be worn during the school day. This includes animation and stuffed animal replicas.
- The uniform should not be altered in any way (i.e., cutting the bottom of the pants).
