Prince George’s County Public Schools Curriculum
The Social Studies curriculum in Prince George’s County Public Schools is aligned with the Social Studies Voluntary State Curriculum (VSC) prepared by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). Curriculum Framework Progress Guides have been developed for each course and can be obtained on Blackboard or through Oracle.
The middle school program is designed to support the needs of educators and students in grades six through eight. Below are links to individual curriculum descriptions as well as a list of materials used to facilitate instruction at each level.
Testing Information
Just as federal guidelines require that Elementary students be tested in Reading and Math beginning in third grade, this assessment regiment continues throughout the middle school years. For additional information regarding the Maryland School Assessments, visit the Maryland State Department of Education online at http://www.marylandpublicschools.org/MSDE/testing/msa.
