African American Studies
This course surveys the African American experience from its roots in Africa to the United States. Emphasis is placed on understanding the contemporary life of African Americans in light of historical experience. The course engages students in the study of African American involvement and impact on politics, economics, the arts and society alike. The course provides opportunities to experience hands on activities, group and individual projects and a forum for students to speak and think critically about the African American Experience.
