Introduction

The Social Studies Program Summaries is a guide developed as a basic overview of the Social Studies program for grades kindergarten through twelfth.  This program summaries document contains a summary for each course offered in Prince George’s County Public Schools, core textbooks for each grade level, a list of materials provided for the elementary program, and warehouse ordering information.  The information included in the program summaries can serve as a guide for the selection of appropriate theme-related materials for independent and group instructional materials, for use in the classroom and at home with parents.

• The Prince George's County Social Studies Office has been awarded the Teaching American History Grant in partnership with the University of Maryland!
• Join the Prince George's County Council for the Social Studies! The council sponsors monthly activities for teachers and the community! See your local school Social Studies department chairperson for more information.
