Scholar Dollar Family ProgramThe 2010-2011 Scholar Dollar Year-End Celebration will be Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at The Mall at Prince Georges, 10:30 am - Noon

Embracing Student Achievement
The Scholar Dollar Program was created through a joint effort of Prince George’s County Government Office of the County Executive and Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) to reward students for academic excellence.

The program provides awards and special discounts and incentives to students who earn a 3.0 GPA, Honor Roll, or other significant achievement status at each report card period. Currently, all eligible PGCPS students receive a Discount Certificate for savings at retailers at The Mall at Prince Georges and Center at Forestville, as well as chances to receive other prizes.

Overview
To date, almost 900,000 PGCPS students have been rewarded through the Scholar Dollar program since 2006. Students earning improved attendance status are also recognized through the program. Through academic achievement, students have the opportunity to earn discounts that will improve the quality of life for their families.

Discount Certificate
The Discount Certificate entitles the student and family who qualify to receive a percentage off total purchases at participating retailers for a specific time period following each report card period (four periods in each school year).

Enter-to-win a Mall Gift Card
With each report card period, all students that earn a 3.0 GPA, Honor Roll, or other significant achievement status will be eligible to be entered into a drawing to win a mall gift card. The drawing will be held after each report card period and will be drawn for each school segment (elementary, middle, and high schools, and special centers).

Scholar Dollar Certificates Awarded Since 2005-2006Grand Prize
High school seniors that have received a 3.0 GPA, Honor Roll, or other significant achievement status for at least one report card period will be eligible to be entered into a drawing to win a “Grand Prize” mall gift card. Eligible students will be entered into the drawing each time that they qualify during the year (maximum 4 entries). The winner will be announced in a ceremony at the end of the school year.

Scholar Dollar Eligibility and Participation
Eligible students will be identified by each school and will receive Scholar Dollar Discount certificates from Prince George’s County Public Schools through their individual schools. Eligible students simply show their Discount Certificate to participating merchants during the discount period in order to receive the discount.

Promotion of Scholar Dollar Program
Prince George’s County Public Schools actively promote the Scholar Dollar program throughout the calendar year. Principals, parents, students, and communities consistently receive promotional materials about the Scholar Dollar program and the participating Malls and retailers.
