2011-2012Uniform Policy

Rose Valley Elementary is a mandatory uniform school. The official uniform is navy blue bottoms and light blue or white tops.

**NAVY BLUE TOPS ARE NO LONGER A PART OF THE SCHOOL UNIFORM AND ARE NOT PERMITTED

Following are the accepted uniform items for all students:

Girls

* Navy blue jumper, shorts, skirt or short (must be arm length by your side)

* Navy blue UNIFORM pants

* Blouse/shirt-white or powder blue long or short-sleeved; button front collared or polo style shirts

* Sweater as needed-Navy blue or white (no designs, colors, trimmings etc.)

* Socks-white or blue

* Tights-plain white or navy, no patterns or designs

* Shoes-all black or all white solid shoe (no designs, colors, trimmings etc.) NO EXCEPTIONS!

Boys

* Navy Blue UNIFORM pants or shorts

*Shirt - Long or short sleeved white or light blue cotton “polo style” or button front collared shirt.

* Sweater as needed-Navy blue or white (no designs, colors, trimmings etc.)

* Socks-white or navy blue

* Shoes-all black or all white solid shoe (no designs, colors, trimmings etc.) NO EXCEPTIONS!

**Any family experiencing a hardship should speak directly to an administrator or school counselor for
assistance.

Rose Valley Elementary Uniform Enforcement Policy

Rose Valley Elementary Community has a mandatory uniform policy in accordance with Prince George’s County Policy Administrative Procedure #0600

Rose Valley Elementary Uniform Policy Violations and Consequences

The teacher gives the student a violation form indicating that an infraction has occurred. Teacher follows distribution listed below.

The teacher fills out a violation form indicating that an infraction has occurred. The teacher refers the student to the administration who contacts the parent by telephone that a second violation has occurred. Administrator follows distribution listed below.
The administrator sends a letter and calls the parent/guardian of the student to inform them a third violation of the policy has occurred. Administrator follows distribution listed below.
The administrator arranges a parent conference to collaborate on a plan of action to ensure full uniform compliance and reiterates the policy as well as consequences for future violations.
The student is removed from class for one full day and completes classroom assignments provided by the classroom teacher.
A conference is held which includes the student, parent, teacher, and administrator. A final warning is given to the student and the parent/guardian advising them that another violation will result in reassignment to another school. This same information will be forwarded to the parent/guardian.
On the occasion of the seventh violation within a school year, the student will be reassigned to a school that does not have a mandatory school uniform policy.
