PRAXIS Assistance
PRAXIS Test Information & PreparationThe State of Maryland Certification Regulations (COMAR) requires that, if a teacher needs PRAXIS I tests (Reading-Writing-Math), they must be taken and passed during the term of the first Conditional Certificate in order for a renewal to be requested.
Specific information on the PRAXIS certification tests that YOU are required to take and to pass are found on your Evaluation for Certification form. PRAXIS I & II requirements for Maryland are available in this course booklet as well as on the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) website www.marylandpublicschools.org.
The Evaluation for Certification is prepared for all new provisional teacher hires by the Teacher Staffing and Certification Office, when all initial, official documents are received and you have completed (if required) the MSDE Application for Initial Certification (www.mdcert.org).
Payment of fees to take the PRAXIS tests is the responsibility of the provisional teacher. Provisional teachers may take the PRAXIS I & II tests as soon as they are prepared.
