  • Greeting Parents,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!  I hope you had a fun-filled and relaxed summer.  As we gear up for the new school year, our focus continues to be “increased literacy” in all academic areas.

We have a new and excited staff, anxious to meet you and get started.  Please note the important dates below.  Your attendance may be expected.

    Dates to Remember                            Times                                            Events

    Thursday, September 14          6:30 pm-8:00pm      BACK-TO-SCHOOL NIGHT (NEW DATE)       -

Thursday, September 21 - Back-to-School Night CANCELLED  -(Rosh Hashanah**)

Wednesday, September 6                  7:30 am - 1:55 pm                        Students' First Day - Full Uniform

Our free school wide breakfast program begins September 6, 2017.  Breakfast will be served to all students who wish to participate, Day 1.  Lunch will be offered to all students who don’t bring a lunch. If your child qualifies for free meals, you will not be billed/charged.  If your child pays for lunch (reduced or full price) the lunch account will be charged.  If you are unsure of your child’s lunch status, it is recommended you send a bag lunch for him/her until you obtain information from Food Services.   Be sure to go online at www1.pgcps.org and complete the Free and Reduced Price Meal application.  In addition, please visit our website www1.pgcps.org/Patuxent for pertinent information (Parent Handbook, Supply Lists, etc.).

Patuxent is a Mandatory Uniform School.  Our uniform colors are navy blue bottoms and powder blue or white tops, solid color navy or white socks, stockings or leggings, red or navy blue ties (boys), and navy blue sweaters (no logos or emblems).  Shoes should be dark, non-scuff soles (absolutely no wheels or lights).  Earrings, if worn, must be small studs.  Shirts should be worn tucked-in.  Belts used, if needed.

     School Visits

When entering the school, all persons must report directly to the office and present a government picture ID.  Your information will be entered in the Raptor System.  Please see the Frequently Asked Questions for further information.

Unless you are here for a school initiated one-time special event, in a non-classroom localized area of the building, fingerprinting is required.  In accordance with PGCPS,

Parent/chaperones/visitors are required to apply for the Finger Printing Background Check ($59.32) in order to chaperone any field trip.  The Commercial Background Check ($7.00) only allows parents limited access such as, to volunteer at different events within the school.  It does not allow parents to volunteer everyday at the school.

I have included a Frequently Asked Questions sheet for your review.  This sheet and the information gleaned from the          websites are intended to help you navigate your Patuxent experience with ease.

We look forward to a great year of learning and discovering while having fun!  Student class assignments will be mailed at    the end of August.
