Instructional Philosophy and Objectives
An Instructional program in any art medium offers the opportunity to experience the process of creating & solving a visual problem in a unique way. A creative approach to learning provides for the use of materials and experimentation within assigned limitations while assuring that personal interpretation and art expression is appreciated.
It is the primary objective of our Art program to encourage and promote individual creative thinking thought the art process.
Additional objectives are to:
· Develop a functional knowledge of the art process and provide skill practice.
· Develop appreciation fro contemporary and historic art.
· Develop consciousness of design in two and three dimensional arts.
· Teach a specific art vocabulary.
· Generate awareness of art in the Washington Metropolitan area.
· Provide experiences that relate art to other areas of the instructional program.
· Foster an awareness of current careers in the arts.
