  • STEM Fair Projects: Student Learning at Its Culminating Best!
    STEM Fair Project Parent Viewing Night occurred on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 6:00 pm.  Parents and family continued to come with a sense of positive anticipation for viewing all of the STEM Fair projects in general and then their own child's STEM Fair project.
    PCCPS Math Dept. Conducts Numeracy Learning Walk at OHES - Acting and Assessing Yielded GLOWS and GROWS
    This Numeracy Learning Walk, focused on grades 3 - 5, occurred on Wednesday, February 1, 2017  from 11:00 am - 2:30 pm with a debriefing session to share and discuss evidence collected related to what the teachers were doing and what the students were doing.
    Commit to Be Fit Family Night Energizes All for Healthy Living
    Over 147 families and teachers participated in Oxon Hill Elementary School's annual Commit to Be Fit Night held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 6:45 pm.  Families were excitedly engaged in fun activities that promoted healthy living and having fun!
    Twenty-One Students at OHES Celebrated for Earning Straight A's on Quarter Report Cards
    Thursday, January 19, 2017 was Celebration day for 21 students who worked hard, persevered and put forth much academic effort, with the exhilarating result of "Outstanding Academic Success," ...Straight A's in all content areas.

    Twenty-one (21) student leaders who were chosen by their classmates in grades K through 6 excitedly met with Principal Best-Goring on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 1:30 pm.

    STEM Family Night: Minds at Work Designing, Exploring, Building, Testing: Just Like Engineers
    Over 58 parents, students and teachers participated in our Stem Family Night event that occurred on November 15, 2016 at 7:00 pm.  Oxon Hill Elementary School's STEM Fair leader and Science Department chair, Yvonne Smallwood, reviewed the criteria for a "Winning" Stem Fair Project.
    Annual Book Character Parade Stirred Up Excitement and Enthusiasm Over Books and Favorite Characters!
    There occurred an explosion of excited students, picture-taking parents and enthusiastic teachers and staff on Thursday, October 27, 2016 during Oxon Hill Elementary School's annual Book Character Parade. 
    STEM School -Wide Engagement: Student Engineers Designing and Building a Working Submarine!
    Literacy and Numeracy:Parent Engagement All Day at Oxon Hil ES! Said One Parent- I would not miss this for anything.
    Children were Ecstatic!  Parents were beaming as they saw and heard their children learning!!

    Over 231 parents and students attended Oxon Hill Elementary School's Back-to-School Night on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 7:00 pm.  Parents came with anticipation for what to expect and left with happiness and knowledge when it comes to teaching and learning.
