    As a result of our Oxon Hill ES teachers resolve to meet twice a week (70 minutes/each day) for grade level collaborative planning sessions and their relentless focus on student performance evidence, our students made significant positive growth on all of the Winter assessments (MAP-Growth for reading, Math Inventory, K-2 RELA, SLO Post tests).  Olympic Pride Success!

    It is always a cognitively rewarding time to see our TAG students engaged in thought-provoking activities that push them to become makers, problem-solvers and innovators.

    Monday, March 5, 2018 was an exciting day for students who throughout Quarter 2 modeled our PBIS' School-Wide, Oxon Hill's Way of being Respectful, Responsible, Safe and Prepared in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, playground and on the bus.

    Oxon Hill Elementary School's Records Team (Registration/Attendance Secretary, Professional Counselor, CSEP Coordinator and Principal) attended OHMS's requested, March 7, 2018 Articulation meeting.
    Black History Celebration: An Exemplary Presentation of Ground-Breaking Past with Accomplishment-Occurring Present!
    Over 240 parents, students and staff swelled Oxon Hill ES’ cafeteria on this memorable night! History in story-telling, song, theatre and dance student performances reminded and inspired us to keep this precious dream alive.
    STEM Fair Projects Exemplified OHES Students' High Cognitive Demand, Innovative, Creative and Investigative Work Caused Our Hearts to Swell with Pride!
    Parents came out on Valentine's Day evening to view their children's work.  They were awed at the high levels of STEM-based ideas, presentation and productivity seen in all of the projects.
    Outstanding OHES Counselor Surprised with Outpouring of Warmth and Appreciation during Counselor Appreciation Week!
    The Oxon Hill ES staff and students showed their appreciation and sheer joy for having an Outstanding Counselor who cares, motivates and inspires, not just during Counselor Appreciation week but each and every day throughout this school year thus far.
    STEM Fair Prep Day: High Cognitive Student Engagement: STEM Fair Journal Entries, Conferencing with Teachers, Chrome Book Researching!!! Staying Focused!!
    Friday, January 26 found all K - 5 students intensely focused in school-wide planning and preparation for the upcoming February 13 Stem Fair judging during the day and parent viewing at 6 pm. A serious HUSH could be heard and felt throughout Oxon Hill ES for Great Minds were at Work!
    Commit to Be Fit Night: 207 Families Having! Fun while Feeling the BURN! 3K Walking, Body Aerobics, Hip Hop, Roller Skating! Whew!! Fruit to Go! Energized!
     Oh, what fun all had during the January 24th Family Night of exercising!  Parent survey comments included:  “When can we do this again?” “Let’s meet every Wednesday to exercise!”  “We were all moving, laughing and enjoying the music!”
    Beaming Gr. 2 students with enthusiasm show the famous African American-titled books they chose to read and the Main Idea and Supporting Details report they were going to write! What Joy to Behold!
    One can’t help but to feel pride when wonderfully accosted by second grade students eager to begin their journey of “Reading Their Way into  Writing and Writing Their Way Way into a Reading.”  Ann Goudvis and Stephanie Harvey 
    Christmas Winter Holiday Celebration - Festive and Lots of Joy!!
    It was standing room only with a record family attendance of 408 parents and students.  This "Twas the Night Before Christmas" family night event theme included student performances of all K - 5 students.

    Despite the winter cold night, many parents came to see and hear the musical talents of our OHES students. They performed withconfidence, skill and harmonious tones.

    Over 60 Oxon Hill ES families enthusiastically attended and participated in our annual STEM Fair Preparation Activity Family Night Event on 12/6/2017. 
    SPMT Leadership Team Digging Deep into Data with OCSI Specialist Cross: Pathway to Learner Center Problem
    OHES’ SPMT Leadership Team examined multiple data sources (Math student performance tasks, Literacy research simulation tasks, EBSRs), noticing, wondering and determining a Learner Center Problem focus for Student Academic Achievement Success!
    OHES Students Showing Families We Care!
    The two week Thanksgiving Drive at Oxon Hill Elementary School produced over 60 boxes of food for families in need.  Students, teachers and parents enthusiastically donated canned and packaged food items to ensure that all families have an enjoyable Thanksgiving.
