  • Gr.1 Lesson Study: Guided Reading Focus - High Impact Tchr and Ss Lrng
    The entire grade 1 teacher team and support teacher teams engaged in one first grade teacher's classroom for a lesson study focused on Guided Reading. The presenter  was an experienced first grade Master Teacher whose enthusiasm and content knowledge skills challenged students cognitively and produced high student engagement.  Results: Teacher Growth and Academic Student Learning Success!

    Oxon Hill Elementary School’s Long Standing Business Partner, SouthMinster Presbyterian Church paid a “Surprise” visit to our school with a huge tub of brand new school supplies for our students. 
    PBIS and Attendance Family Night - Daily Ss Attendance & Oxon Hill’s Way Impacts Ss Learning Success
    Over 90 families attended Oxon Hill Elementary School’s PBIS/Student Attendance Family Night.  Parents learned about the importance of their children attending school each day so that they can learn and achieve.

    Oxon Hill Elementary School's Annual Book Character Parade occurred on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Many parents came to share with their children in the excitement of favorite book character costumes, music and lots of delicious food to eat!  What an Amazing Day!!

    October 19, 2017 -  Men Make a Difference Day Celebration was an honorable event that all of our students, especially our male students will remember. 
    Anthony Whittington Building MAP-Growth Assessment Literacy with OHES Teachers! Influencing the Instructional Core (Student, Teacher, Content).
    Data Analyst Specialist Anthony Whittington spent the entire day at Oxon Hill ES building assessment literacy around the MAP-Growth Reading test for our teachers in grades 2 through 5. 
    Lesson Study (G.5 team): Safe Environment for Professional Growth
    The fifth grade teacher team along with Admin, CSEP and Literacy teams converged upon one fifth grade class at Oxon Hill ES to engage in Professional Growth Lesson Study focused on Math. 
    Qtr. 1 Literacy Learning Walk Debriefing - Influencing the Core
    What a Powerful, Instructional Core Focused Day at Oxon Hill ES on October 17, 2017!  All K- 5 teachers spent time in each of the Kindergarten to Fifth grade classrooms collecting data on what teachers were teaching, what students were learning, student work quality and the classroom environment.

    Annual Meet & Greet Event at Oxon Hill ES Energizes and Builds Excitement for New School Year!
    Many Oxon Hill Elementary School families participated in our Annual Meet & Greet event on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  Parents and students were informed and then enthusiastically connected with their new teachers.  All left with smiling faces and happiness, saying see you next Wednesday!  (Next Wednesday, September 6, 2017 is the First Day of School for all students.)
