Message from the Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your family to the 2009-2010 school year at Overlook Elementary School.  Parents and guardians, we are looking forward to working with you and your children. Together, we can make this an outstanding school year.

Our main goal is to ensure the academic success of each student.  To that end, Overlook provides an environment that is safe and orderly and encourages the students to strive to do their best.  We encourage parents and guardians to work with the school as partners in their child’s education.  This includes reading with your child every day, discussing new words, encouraging your child to read and study, reviewing class work and homework, praising accomplishments, and checking with your child’s teacher regularly.

It is critical that you send your child to school everyday prepared to listen and learn from the educator entrusted to teach the standards for their grade.  Students are required by law to attend school on a regular basis.  Good attendance is critical to a child’s success in school.  The parent/guardian is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the child comes to school each day, except in cases of illness or family emergency.

Together we will help our youth to obtain the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to progress academically and meet their individual goals that lead to productive lives.  Come and share in our vision of quality in education.
