FIRST QUARTER HONOR ROLL ASSEMBLY
On Friday, November 13th, we will celebrate our students’ academic successes. Grades 2, 3 & 4 will be honored at 8:10AM and Grades 5 and 6 will receive their honors starting at 9:20AM. Invitations will be sent home along with the report cards of our award recipients on Tuesday, November 10th.
Congratulations to all of our students who received awards and congratulations to their proud families!
541 Certificates were awarded in the following categories:
274 Citizenship Awards
136 Perfect Attendance Awards (distributed in the classrooms) 100 Honor Roll Certificates (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, & 6th grades only)
31 Principal Awards (straight A’s / 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, & 6th grades)
NEW SECURITY ENTRANCE
Have you noticed? Montpelier Elementary now has a security door with a push button entry. Once the button to the right of the doors is pushed, the office is alerted and an audio/ video system is activated. The office can then unlock the far right door to admit the visitor. In order for this system to be effective, we ask for your help closing the front doors as you exit our building.
We would like to thank PGCPS Security Services for financing this important addition and for their expert installation!
FORGOTTEN ITEMS
Once the teachers leave (2:45pm), students are not permitted to re-enter the classrooms to retrieve forgotten items. This policy applies to students enrolled in our Before & After School Early Learning Program, as well. Neither the office staff, night custodians nor other staff members are permitted to authorize access to the classrooms after regular hours. Have a back-up plan to get any missing information (Check with your child’s teacher to see if homework is posted on-line or arrange a homework buddy.)
WALK FOR THE HOMELESS A SUCCES!
On behalf of L.A.R.S. (Laurel Advocacy and Referral Service) and the Fannie Mae Foundation, we wish to thank all of the participants in the “Walk for the Homeless.” We had more than 200 walkers and raised over $500.00! Donors will receive a T-shirt later this month.
CONGRATULATIONS
Best wishes and congratulations to Ms. Kuneman on her marriage. She will now be Mrs. Dolan.
STUDENT PHOTOS
Strawbridge Studios will return to Montpelier Elementary on November 20th. If your child missed the first portrait day, this is your opportunity to have his/her photo taken. In addition, if you are dissatisfied with your child’s first portrait, simply return the entire photo packet to the photographer on November 20th and a new photo will be taken.
BEHAVIOR INCENTIVE
Over 350 students will be participating in the “Behavior Relay” on Tuesday, November 10th, sponsored by our Physical Education Department. These students have, on a continuous basis, exhibited great behavior at school. Thank you for having good character and for making Montpelier productive, positive, and peaceful.

EDUMAT FUNDRAISER
Thank you to the Montpelier families and their friends and families for supporting our Edumat Fundraiser. We are pleased to announce that we almost reached our goal thanks to your efforts. Orders will be delivered to the school on Tuesday, November 10th. If they may be easily carried by the student, the orders will be sent home with the students. If the orders are too large to be easily carried, we ask that a parent pick up the orders in our Media Center no later than 5 p.m. on November 10th. Only orders which have been paid-in-full due will be released.
And, as a special treat for those students who supported our fundraiser, each participant will receive a NO UNIFORM DAY on November 10th. Special stickers identifying these students are being sent home today. They should be worn on November 10th with school appropriate clothing.

We celebrated this annual event, October 26th-29th. Students were given special treats throughout the week which included stickers, pencils and ribbons. We also enjoyed RED HAT DAY and RED FOOD DAY. Remember, JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS!
LOST AND FOUND ITEMS
It is necessary to purge our lost & found on a quarterly basis. If your child is missing a sweater, jacket, lunch box, etc., etc., etc., you are strongly encouraged to look in the lost & found located in the multipurpose room. Please take a moment to check the lost & found on conference day. All items will be donated to a local charity by November 13th. Please remember that when items are clearly marked with the child’s name, we try to return those items to their owners.
