PARCC ASSESSMENT- Prince George’s County will begin administering the PARCC assessment on April 18, 2016.
There are three days of Reading/Language arts, and four days of mathematics. English/Language arts will take
   about 90 minutes, for three days. Math will take about an hour each day for four days. This assessment will be administered
 online to all third through fifth grade students. If there are no closings or delays the schedule of testing is as follows:

If there is a closing or delay on any of the above testing dates, then the test will be pushed to the next day,
 affecting all of the scheduled tests following. Please help your child do their best on these tests by making sure
 they get a good night’s sleep
, limit television and electronics, and making sure he/she gets a good breakfast in the morning.
 Also, please avoid taking/keeping your child out of school during their testing times.  No child will be able to
 be dismissed during the testing session once it has begun
.  By the same token, there will be no visitors allowed in the testing
rooms. If you would like to view any of the practice tests or tutorials, please go to parcc.pearson.com. Your third-fifth grade
 student will be able to show you around!! They have been practicing for the last couple of months.

 Egate Montpelier Elementary school will receive the 2012 Maryland Excellence in Gifted and Talented Education (EGATE) School Awards. 

The award recognizes programs that offer superior and equitable gifted and talented education. The rigorous application process required school teams to document the ways that the school’s program is aligned with state criteria for excellence. The Maryland State Advisory Council on Gifted and Talented Education reviewed the applications.

Enrichment and Acceleration Opportunities 

    At Montpelier we follow the TRC or TAG in the Regular Classroom model
The TRC model was developed for schools wiyh a large population of TAG
identified  students  
(greater than 40). 
There are currently over 70 students  
identified as Talented and Gifted in grades 2 through 5 at Montpelier.

Please help us continue to earn funds by dropping your

 magazines, and misc. paper in the bin.  
Please note:  Cardboard, tissue paper, kitchen and bathroom items

Boxtops for Education

Our Boxtops for Education program is still going strong.  Save those boxtops
from participating General Mills products and
send them to school with your students
(make sure their name is on the back).  Each week 2 boxtops are chosen and
those students win a trip to our treasure box.
