Please join us in celebrating 50 years at  Montpelier Elementary! 

Friday, April 28, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. We will have an open house and showcase of student's work. You will also be able to see the beautiful flowers and the tree that the community will plant in the Spring. Light Refreshments will be served and there will be fun activities for children.

New Program  at the new Laurel Library and the Beltsville Branch  

Kids Achieve Club will be an opportunity for students in Grades K-6 to receive homework assistance from trained volunteers. It is drop-in, there is no need to register, and will be at the Laurel Library every Wednesday afternoon, from 4 - 6 pm, and at the Beltsville Branch, Mondays from 3:30 - 5 pm, until May 24, 2017.  Although it is aimed at children whose home language is not English, it is open to everyone who may benefit from it. 

 

 

IMPORTANT

 INCLEMENT WEATHER REMINDERS 
Please tune in to the news or PGCPS during inclement weather.  When there is a delay all morning clubs will be cancelled and all Pre K classes will be cancelled.  If there is a 2 hour delay, school will begin at 11 a.m.  Students would be allowed to enter the building at 10:45.   Buses would pick up students 2 hours after their usual pick up time.
DO NOT DROP STUDENTS OFF EARLY
as there will be no supervision. 
 


  LATE ARRIVALS 

When students arrive late to school,
parents or guardians MUST bring them into the office.
Students may not be dropped off late to enter the building on their own.

nurseHEALTH NOTE from the Nurse

Please keep your child at home if he/she has a fever of 99 degrees, orally, or 97 degrees, auxiliary (under the arm) or above.  If your child is vomiting, has diarrhea, a persistent cough, chills, body aches or a rash, your child should remain home for observation and be seen by your pediatrician. Your child may not return to school until these symptoms have abated for at least 24 hoursA doctor’s note will be required upon return to school for illnesses lasting 3 or more days.


 

GREAT NEWS!TAG HONOR AWARDED TO MONTPELIER!  
 

EgateMontpelier Elementary school will received the 2012 Maryland Excellence in Gifted and Talented Education (EGATE) School Awards. 

The award recognizes programs that offer superior and equitable gifted and talented education. The rigorous application process required school teams to document the ways that the school’s program is aligned with state criteria for excellence. The Maryland State Advisory Council on Gifted and Talented Education reviewed the applications.

Enrichment and Acceleration Opportunities 

    At Montpelier we follow the TRC or TAG in the Regular Classroom model
The TRC model was developed for schools wiyh a large population of TAG
identified  students  
(greater than 40). 
There are currently over 70 students  
identified as Talented and Gifted in grades 2 through 5 at Montpelier.

 Paper Recycling Program

Please help us continue to earn funds by dropping your
newspapers, catalogs,
 magazines, and misc. paper in the bin.  
Please note:  Cardboard, tissue paper, kitchen and bathroom items
and phone books CAN NOT be accepted.

Boxtops for Education

Our Boxtops for Education program is still going strong.  Save those boxtops
from participating General Mills products and
send them to school with your students
(make sure their name is on the back).  Each week 2 boxtops are chosen and
those students win a trip to our treasure box.
