Margaret Brent Mission Statement
In accordance with the guidelines of the Comer process, the staff at Margaret Brent will prepare the students to function independently and productively at home, work, school and in the community. We have high expectations for each student maximizing time on task while engaging students in domestic living, community functioning, recreational/leisure activities and vocational training including activities in multicultural education. We believe that parent involvement is key to each child's success in the school; therefore, we will develop activities that will foster strong parent involvement.
To further the success of our students, instruction will be provided in academic areas using state and county approved curriculum materials. The educational program will allow interactions with non-disabled peers. Partnerships will be established to strengthen the relationship between home, school and the surrounding community.
The Mission of the Prince George's County Public Schools is to ensure that all students acquire knowledge and develop skills and understanding that will enable them to become productive citizens and lifelong learners. The mission is best accomplished through a structure of communities that are committed to children, characterized by: strong instructional leadership, high expectations for success for all students, an emphasis on teaching for learning, a safe and orderly school environment, frequent monitoring of students progress with appropriate instructional adjustments to student's programs, high levels of accountability, responsive supporting services, and, extensive and meaningful parent/community involvement.
