MUSIC

The music department at Langley Park-McCormick Elementary School welcomes you (bienvenidos)! The music department consists of two teachers: one full-time music teacher, Mr. Mark Cromer, who teaches vocal and general music, and one part-time teacher, Mr. Alan Oresky, who teaches instrumental music to 4^th, 5^th, and 6^th grades only.

All students will learn basic music theory and notation. They will study rhythm, melody, and harmony. All students will sing, and some students will learn to play instruments. Students will be able to identify musical instruments, different styles or genres of music, and great composers or performers throughout history.

Participation is extremely important in vocal/general music class and constitutes 50% of the overall grade for students in grades 3 thru 6 (60% for Pre-K thru 2). All students in grades 3 thru 6 must bring a folder and a pencil for each class, even if they are not used during every class. Always be prepared!
