PHYSICAL EDUCATION
The physical education teacher at Langley Park- McCormick encourages all students to be physically fit and develop a positive attitude toward different activities. The teacher tries to understand and be sympathetic regarding the student’s emotional status, weight, desire and attitude toward participation and learning. My goal is to see all students put forth their best performance. When this happens the student is encouraged and exhorted to continue in that direction. During my tenure as a physical education teacher the goal has been to promote innovative and challenging activities in many different instructional units. It is my belief that students respond in a constructive way when activities are structured and are noncompetitive but challenging. On the other hand, many students enjoy pursuing competitive games and like the” hustle and bustle” of that kind of endeavor. In viewing this scenario, the teacher has a challenging job to direct and organize instruction and to make an evaluation or assessment of the desired outcomes.
My desire is to continue to be flexible, innovative, and creative while maintaining clear standards in classroom management and instruction. It is imperative to keep growing professionally by implementing new methods and strategies, modifying units of instruction and continual self-evaluation. It is equally important to promote student responsibility and parent support. To achieve success, all ingredients are vital.
