Dear Parents or Guardians,
Welcome back to another exciting school year at James E. Duckworth School. I am Jackie Means your PTA President for this coming school year. I hope that you can attend Back to School Night which will be held on September 18, 2007. I am looking forward to meeting the new families and seeing our returning families. The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is looking forward to serving you and tying that important bond between school and community.
I would just like to give you a description of what PTA dues are used for. The PTA is an organization that helps fund activities for your child. Some of the activities include giving the classroom teacher’s money for community trips. We also provide babysitting services, so that parents can attend PTA meetings. The money generated from PTA fundraisers are used for school-improvement projects. The PTA is sponsoring three programs of interest to parents from the survey that was given out in June. The PTA also gives our teacher’s and their aide’s a much deserved luncheon in May. The Bus drivers and their aides are given a breakfast in June from the PTA. The PTA also helps plan various parties throughout the year as well as Challenge Day in May.
I am asking and encouraging every family to help support our school and our children. The easiest way for you to help your PTA support the school is to simply become a member. PTA dues for the 2007-2008 school year are just $10.00 per family. An envelope is enclosed to send in your PTA dues at your earliest convenience. Joining the PTA does not mean that you have to volunteer in any way; however, we welcome you to become a part of the school community by joining. The PTA meets the first Monday of every month at 7 p.m.
If you have any questions or concerns that you would like addressed in a PTA meeting , please feel free to call me or e-mail me at the number below.
Thank you,
Jackie Means
PTA President
