Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) is working on a number of initiatives to improve the data infrastructure and enhance future decision making. Initiatives such as the Balanced Scorecard, Student Information System, and Performance Management Grant are all designed to improvedata collection, better reporting and enhanced data quality.
The Division of Information Technoloyg - Technology Applications plays an integral role in the support of these initiatives through availability of infrastructure, hardware, software, training, and customer service.
The Division of Information Technology - Technology Applications continues to explore best practices for aligning technology initiatives and investments with the school district’s strategic goals, initiatives, and objectives.
The mission of the Department of Technology Applications is to strategically apply IT and business best practices to develop, acquire, implement, maintain, support, and
integrate the applications, which support the instructional and administrative initiatives of the school system. The department provides technical and functional support, and
consults on the strategic application of technology solutions to achieve optimal advantage and return on investment within the district.
Department of Technology Applications’ provides exceptional service to PGCPS Oracle application users. We provide support, training, monitoring of Oracle patches and upgrades, testing and development of new enhancements for Oracle application modules.
The Department is comprised of Business Applications, Student Applications and Data Warehouse Applications.
Business Applications Office
Develops & supports the business information systems that gather and maintain all data for Prince George's County Public Schools. This office creates new Oracle forms to add functionality and effective use of various systems, and helps support data use through a variety of reporting tools. Our Development Team(s) have a combined record of over 90+ years of experience in the Human Resources, Payroll, Oracle Advanced Benefits and Financal areas. The retention of qualified, experienced technical and functional expertise is a priority for the Business Applications workforce.
Our goal is to assure the ERP system is running efficiently in the modules of Human Resources, Advanced Benefits and Compensation, Payroll, Self Service, iRecruitment, iExpense, iSupplier, Data Warehouse, Asset Management, Treasury, Budget, Position Control and Finanical Services (Accounting and Accounts Payable).
Business Applications is responsible for providing technical, functional and training support for all users within PGCPS business information systems.
The Office of Student Applications is a customer-focused department that support and maintain all
aspects of the Student Information System (SchoolMax) for Prince George’s County Public Schools
(PGCPS). The Destiny Library System, Food Services, Transportation and Special Education are
other systems that are supported by Student Applications. This office provides other valuable services
such as: feasibility studies, requirements gathering, impact analysis, software development, system
migrations, testing and implementation, Service Request Authorizations (SRA), project management
and reports development for internal and external stakeholders. Student Applications customer-base
include: Executive Leadership, Central Office Administrators, Area Office Administrators, School-based
Administrators, parents, students and PGCPS personnel.
