Student musicians from more than 100 schools throughout Prince George’s County had the unique opportunity to showcase their talents on the same stage as thousands of professional musicians. The Kennedy Center Concert, a 33-year tradition for music students in Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS), was renamed in 1996 to honor Edward M. Felegy, former superintendent and supporter of the arts.
Music students in the Elementary, Middle, and High School Honors Choruses, and members of the High School Honors Band and Senior Youth Orchestra, came together on November 30 in this culminating event of the PGCPS Music Enrichment Program. The concert is the result of the cooperative efforts of music teachers, students, and families, and serves as a model for schools across the nation.
