Jane Spence, principal of Bowie High School, was recently named by the Maryland Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP) as the state’s High School Principal of the Year for 2011.
Spence will represent Maryland and compete in the MetLife NASSP National Principal of the Year Program, which recognizes outstanding middle level and high school principals. Each year, every state selects two principals worthy of national recognition – one for middle level and one for high school. From these winners, finalists are selected and eligible to be named National Principals of the Year.
Each finalist receives an award and a $2,500 grant for a special school project or professional development opportunities at their school.
