Back Pack Weekend Meals Program Comes to PGCPS
,
For Immediate Release
Back Pack Meals
The Back Pack Weekend Meals Program of the Capital Area Food Bank has come to five elementary schools in Prince George’s County: Cool Spring, Dodge Park, Langley Park-McCormick, Ridgecrest, and Riverdale. Schools with the highest number of students receiving free and reduced-price meals were selected for the program, which is designed to help ease student hunger on days they aren’t in school.

The free Back Pack Weekend Meals contain five to seven pounds of non-perishable food, including a protein, a starch, a fruit, a vegetable, and a child-friendly snack or breakfast item. Parent permission is required for students to participate in the program. Volunteers who assist staff in distributing weekend Back Pack meals to students are required to complete background checks.
