A child without a regular, fixed, and adequate nighttime residence is homeless. The child may live in a shelter, a temporary home, a motel, a car, a campground, or on the street. Homeless children may live temporarily with relatives or friends, because of a loss of permanent housing. What are the responsibilities of the local liaison for homeless children and youth? The local liaison serves as one of the primary contacts between homeless families and school staff, district personnel, shelter workers, and other service providers.
