Hello, I am your school nurse Mrs. Williams. I am excited to be joining the team here at Hillcrest Heights Elementary School.  As your school nurse I work closely with parents, faculty, and students to maintain a healthy and safe environment for our students.  I conduct screenings throughout the year evaluating height, weight, vision, and hearing.  Health records are kept current on each student in accordance to the State of Maryland Immunization Requirements.  Children who require medication are able to receive medication administered in the school setting with minimal disruption to the child’s learning experience.  Additionally, all school medical emergencies, health concerns and first aid are provided to students and staff.

A few reminders that will help with care of our students: please keep emergency contact information current. Children should stay at home if any of these symptoms exist:

    Fever 100.4 degrees or greater

Fever within the last 24 hours

    Unexplained rash

    Redness/drainage from eyes

    Severe cold symptoms

Students should return to school when temperature is normal for the past 24 hours without fever-reducing medication, and when the child feels well enough to be in school for a full day.  Please feel free to contact me with any health concerns and updates you may have for your child.  I look forward to working with you to provide a healthy environment for your children to learn.

    Immunization Requirements

Federal and state guidelines mandate age appropriate immunizations for every child between the grades of Pre-K to 12th. To ensure compliance with these regulations Health Services staff will constantly be reviewing student's health records. Students without appropriate documentation will have twenty calendar (20) days from the time the lack of documentation was noted, to comply with immunization regulations.
