World Languages

Mission Statement: 
The World Languages Department prepares students for life in a multilingual, global society by giving them a sense of language in general, and by empowering them with the ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, with other cultures in their native languages.

Goals:

• Apply knowledge gained across the curriculum;
• Develop writing skills on cultural and world issues;
• Develop communication skills at the basic, intermediate, and advanced levels;
• Acquire the ability to listen and comprehend the spoken language;
• Read and comprehend cultural and literary works; and
• Acquire a strong of sense of how “language” in general is structured.
