Dual Enrollment and Articulation Agreements
The Office of Higher Education Partnerships (OHEP) works to increase the access to college coursework by high school students. When that coursework counts as college and high school credit it is called, “Dual Enrollment Credit”.
The OHEP is working on two dual enrollment initiatives:
1. College Presence- is when a college offers a college course on the campus of a high school. Supported by a recent National Science Foundation grant, PGCPS and PGCC plan to pilot college presence in four of our high schools during the 2009-2010 school year. Students will be able to take college courses in science, which will fulfill the required high school credit as well as earn college credit. For more information parents and students should contact the Science Office.
2. Middle College High School- is a high school located on a college campus, where students receive a blended program of instruction that upon graduation not only meets all high school degree requirements but results in between one and two-years of earned college credit. The OHEP is working with PGCC in the development of the Academy of Health Sciences at PGCC. As more information on this program becomes available information will be posted.
An Articulation Agreement is an agreement between a school system and college that results in qualified students who enroll in the college receiving an agreed upon number of college credits. The Career and Technology Education, CTE Programs of PGCPS has established a number of articulation agreements for students successfully completing specific programs.
